2020 Indoor Field Hockey Registration is now open!

Hawken Lower School (Lyndhurst Campus)

See Registration Links Below

This year the U16 & U19 program again offers an incredible 22 days/39 hours of coaching and field hockey training from late November to end of February! The U12 & U14 also offers 22 days/39 hours! See below for list of dates.

The Winter Indoor Field Hockey Program coaches athletes to play the fun and fast paced Indoor game, which develops their stick skills and allows them to execute quick decision making. Imagine the outdoor game with no midfield - instant offense and defense with no slowing down by turf or grass. The ball speed forces players to play lower so they can trap the ball cleanly and quickly. This is turn develops their lower body strength and power which is an major part of field hockey. In Indoor hockey the ball cannot be lifted at all, (unless a shot on goal) it is a game of skill and touch. Hitting is also not permitted in the Indoor version, so players learn to generate power in their push passes, sweeps, and flicks on goal. The artful dodging skills are honed and perfected in the Indoor game because any loose ball is quickly stolen by the opponent.

U16 and U19 team athletes will practice twice a week at The Hawken Lower School in Lyndhurst from early December to late February. U14 Team athletes will also practice twice per week.

On certain Saturdays, there will be tournaments so no practices, games only. We also schedule open gym field hockey on certain days, so if you would like to take part, please get in touch with us in advance.

Cleveland Field Hockey Club may also host a high school tournament at Hawken School so players have one local tournament to play in. We will also host our annual adult club tournament and some of our premier players will have the opportunity to play against former college and international players.

Tournament players will need USA Field Hockey membership and will also need an Indoor Hockey stick and an Indoor Hockey glove. We strongly recommend gloves for both hands, but a left hand Indoor glove is mandatory. Players can purchase their own face-masks if they do not want to use the club's facemasks that are available during play.

U10 and U12 players can register for once or twice a week practices. We want to introduce the sport to players at a younger age as we seek to expand our talent base and recruit new players into the sport.

Cleveland Field Hockey Club does not charge a monthly fee to be a member. We only have directs costs for our programs and tournaments. Players can also make up (space permitting) missed practices by coming to a different practice session. Details about practices times and program costs are available after you login to your account. You can also email us if you have any questions.

Cleveland Field Hockey Club always provides top quality coaching. This program's coaches include Sean Baretto (Titans FHC and Canada Indoor International Player), Tiffany Saunders (NCAA D1 Radford University, Oberlin College Head Coach) Dan Young, (Chinese FHC, Trinidad & Tobago) Kaitlin Barnes (NCAA D1 College of Holy Cross) and Ahyodha Kishna (Hikers FHC, Guyana U21 International Player, USA Master's) who have played internationally or at the college level. Coach Kishna recently played for the United States at the Master's World Cup in Australia this Spring.
