We will have U14, U16 and U19 teams (ELITE) attending national tournaments. Please be sure to enter your age accurately when registering because registration is age specific and programs outside your age group will not be displayed.
ELITE versus ACADEMY
If you want to play on one of our teams (ELITE), you have to be selected during tryouts and commit to attending all practices. You also have to make a financial commitment to the team by sending in a non refundable team fee and purchasing a uniform package as you register. Tryouts will be held on the first day so it's imperative for you to be there if you want to play Elite.
If you cannot commit, we encourage you to sign up for the Academy instead. Academy members practice at the same time as Elite members and do the same drills, though practices are separate groups. The quality of our coaching is the same high level across all groups. This is something that sets us apart and what we pride ourselves on. We have always been committed to every player in our program and will continue to do so regardless of what program they are in.
Age Eligibility:
U14: If you are 14 on or before 12/31/2025 you are a U16 Player.*
U16: If you are 16 on or before 12/31/2025 you are a U19 Player.
U19: If you are 19 on or before 12/31/2025, you are not eligible for U19.
These are the age cutoffs for USAFHA events.
* We understand some players have an older birthdate that may push them up into U16 while they are still in middle school. They are allowed to practice with their age peers if that is their preference.
About Indoor Field Hockey:
The Winter Indoor Field Hockey Program focuses on teaching athletes to play the fun and fast paced Indoor game, which develops their stick skills and allows them to execute quick decision making. Imagine the outdoor game with no midfield - instant offense and defense. The surface is hard, fast and flat so it is a lot faster than turf. The ball speed forces players to play lower so they can trap the ball cleanly and quickly. This is turn develops their lower body strength and power which is a major part of field hockey. These Indoor skills are complementary to, and transfer perfectly to the outdoor game.
In Indoor Field Hockey the ball cannot be lifted at all, (unless a shot on goal) it is a game of high skill and first touch. Hitting is also not permitted in the Indoor version, so players learn to generate power in their push passes and flicks on goal. Players learn to keep the ball tight to their sticks due to the possession and control nature of the game.
Tournament players will need USA Field Hockey membership, an Indoor Hockey stick and an Indoor Hockey glove. We strongly recommend gloves for both hands, but a left hand Indoor glove is mandatory. Players can purchase their own face-masks if they do not want to use the club's facemasks.

Cleveland Field Hockey Club always provides top quality coaching.
This program's coaches include Meghan Daly, (NCAA D1 Kent State University), Rachel Audet, Sean Baretto (Titans FHC and Canada, Indoor International Player), Tiffany Saunders (NCAA D1 Radford University, Oberlin College Head Coach) Dan Young, (Chinese FHC, Trinidad & Tobago) Kaitlin Barnes (NCAA D1 College of Holy Cross) and Ahyodha Kishna (Hikers FHC, Guyana U21 International Player, USA Master's) who have played internationally or at the college level.
