Our training program will focus on technical skills such as receiving, pushing, sweeping, hitting, flicking, aerials, dodges, etc. Our game play will include discussion and feedback on game strategy including, defending, attacking, channeling, pressing, trapping, recovering, etc. A typical session starts off with a warm up/stretch followed by individual non dependent skill work. We then work on dependent skills such as passing, attack vs defense, shooting after receiving, etc. We usually save the past part for game play followed by cool down/stretch.

Our coaching staff is composed of former international players, current and past college players and it is a fantastic environment for young players to learn in. Our coaches are caring, experienced and knowledgeable in the sport and they are great with young players. They are excellent at teaching technical and tactical field hockey skills and are very accomplished field hockey players themselves who are still actively playing. We coach appropriate skills based on age and ability and we keep practices fun while maintaining a healthy competitive learning environment.

We'll have a comprehensive training program which will include fun and creative dexterity courses designed to test and challenge players while keeping them engaged in an exciting learning environment.

We teach athletes new skills and concepts, improve their current technical skills and understanding of the game while training in a fun and competitive environment. We focus on the skills that allow a player to keep possession of the ball and make good passes. Our practices are tailored for every position, so whether you’re a goalkeeper or a forward, our sessions will include specialized drills for your position.

Practice Structure
  1. Warm up (roughly 10 minutes) – players late to practice must warm up on their own before joining the group. This is to prevent injury.
  2. The second part of practice focuses on independent control skills (dribbling/dodging), hitting, pushing and sweeping. Though the players all do this together as a group, they complete the skill on their own.
  3. he next part of the session features small groups of players working together on passing the ball quickly and moving into new positions.
  4. The fourth part of the session involves live game play with defense against offence and includes a little bit of chalkboard teaching and discussion.
  5. The session concludes with a scrimmage. At times we may let the players play on their own, playground style, as this is important for the learning process. Sometimes players learn more without the pressure of a coach watching them.
